Rich

Everyone thinks I’m rich, but I’m not.

Or maybe they don’t. I dunno.

What I do know is that if I were someone else looking in on my life, where my home base is (Scandinavia), how much I travel internationally (every six weeks or so), and seeing pics like the one above popping up in my Instagram feed of the car I rented to go road tripping (twice) in the UK this summer, I’d think I was rolling in it.

But I’m not. At least not in the way that everyone bandies about online.

Let me be clear: I do not make 6 figures in my online business.

I could. Most definitely. I have the readership and referrals. But I’m aware of the targeted work involved and quite frankly, I’m not interested at present.

There are two things I want to highlight here:

  1. I used the term “at present” because at some point I’ll be ready and interested in scaling my business and growing my online income wildly. But right now I’m really enjoying my offline life and that takes precedence over dollars.
  2.  I may not make six figures but by my standards I am really freaking rich.

I can afford to live in a beautiful part of the world.

I can afford to travel when I want (which is huge for me).

I can afford a really nice place and all the foods I love in my fridge.

I can afford to buy custom clothing.

I can (and do!) help other people build 6-figure businesses.

I can afford to pay three contractors to help me run my business and spoil them a bit at the end of the year.

I can afford to put money into savings every month, and I have zero debt.

Does it take six figures? Nope.

(In fact, there’s been loads of studies showing that in the US, making more than $75k does not significantly increase your happiness level.)

Here’s the thing: when you want for nothing, see tons of possibility on the horizon, know that you’ll never be unemployed (ever) AND have a super radical human being to share your journey with to boot, are you anything less than wealthy?

So, everyone thinks I’m “rich” but I’m not.

Forget the numbers for a bit and focus on what living a great life means for you. Therein lies the true wealth to aim for.
